There has been a huge push in the nutritional world over the last ten years or so to move away from what we used to know as traditional “diets.” Many diets can help you lose weight quickly, which sounds wonderful, but the down side is that you will not be getting the nutrients you need for your body and in the long run, it has been proven, that most people will not only put their weight back within the first year of losing from a diet, they will also gain extra weight as well.
The alternative to a “diet” is to create a lifestyle that supports and promotes healthy eating and activity, but allows you to indulge every now and then. This isn’t to say that just because you are eating healthy and working out means you should be able to reward yourself with ice cream every night since you’re not on a diet. Instead, it means enjoy ice cream every now and then if you love it, but don’t have it in the house for every day consumption and turn away desserts offered to you that you don’t love to avoid extra calories. You binge on that carton of ice cream like it’s the last one on earth since you’ve deprived yourself of it for so long.
So Ultimately, Create a balanced lifestyle in terms of food and fitness that is liveable, realistic and builds in moments to enjoy the things you love.
